Life transitions are happening all the time. We see a bridge we must cross and think we’ll never get there. But eventually we do, one step at a time.
Therapy for Life Transitions
Life is unpredictable and full of uncertainty. Yikes! How are we supposed to stay calm with that being the case?!! Sometimes we choose to create big change in our lives and sometimes life happens - someone we love dies, we get laid off, our hometown is no longer affordable, our relationship ends, we lose our friend group. Suddenly we have to pick up the pieces and that can be incredibly overwhelming. It can cause us to fall back on old habits or mindsets we thought we grew out of. It can shake up current relationships and make us question our life decisions.
If life feels out of control and unfamiliar, reach out for help. I take a realistic and calm approach to my work, helping you do the same. Through our sessions, you’ll find that we can look at each piece of your life as you put it back together, ideally even better than before. Change can be a gift and an opportunity to learn and grow. It can be intimidating when handled alone but possible when navigated with support.
*Sometimes the problem is we need a change and feel stuck to make it happen. Life seems to be happening to everyone but us and we don’t know why. Let’s explore that together. All behavior, even “stuckness,” has a reason.
Below you will find a list of life transitions or “roadblocks” on your life route that you may recognize from your own experience. If these resonate with you, reach out for a consultation and let’s get started.

Every time you move, you wonder, “am I really starting all over again?” You lose your routines and your day feels unstructured and stressful. Maybe you’re not sleeping well either. Together we can identify your values in order to ground you in what’s important to you. We can reestablish your identity as you decorate a new home around you and find your new local coffee shop.
-
Everyone is offering their congratulations and quickly asking you “what’s next?” You may feel overwhelmed by the job market and how to build sustainable income and fulfilling work. Together, we will combine an understanding of your underlying fears with tools you need to stop procrastinating and begin tackling your goals.
-
Let’s be honest. We spend most of our day working! As much as life is more than work, work takes up a big chunk of time and energy so we want it to feel worth it. Career changes are sometimes chosen and sometimes forced but, together, we will find ways to help you feel empowered in the process of finding your next professional role.

When a marriage ends, if feels like the floor fell from beneath you. They were someone you thought you could trust, someone who is still in your best memories, someone you were supposed to grow old with. You may be asking “what happened?” and “where do I go from here?” We will first develop an understanding of your attachment tendencies, or simply, how you connect with others. You will have support as you redefine your life and determine what you want to come next.

Where there was once so much hope, now there’s pain, sadness, loss, and confusion. Romantic break-ups cut deep and often linger in our lives in unhealthy ways. We can look at “what went wrong” and make sure you are clear on your needs and wants so you can communicate them going forward.
-
Friendship break-ups are real and devastating. Building friendships as an adult is not that easy! We often compare ourselves to other people and put down who we are. Our work together can create a solid foundation in your self-esteem. From there, we can develop skills that will help you connect with others in ways that are authentic to you!
