Different Roads.

One Quality of Care.

An Equitable Approach to the Investment in Therapy

People arrive at therapy from different places, with different resources, responsibilities, and circumstances. To make room for some of that difference, Uncovered Roads offers three established fee levels for individual psychotherapy:

$175 · $155 · $135 per 55-minute session

Each fee level has a limited number of appointments available. The availability of a particular fee may change as clients begin or conclude therapy.

Your fee level does not determine the quality, length, or type of therapy you receive. Every client receives the same professional standard of care, attention, and clinical support. At Uncovered Roads Psychotherapy, I believe therapy should be financially sustainable for both the person seeking care and the therapist providing it.

Why I Use This Model

Life transitions rarely follow a predictable timeline. Changes in relationships, identity, work, family, health, and direction can affect many parts of life at once. If your financial circumstances change during our time together, there will be opportunities to discuss fee changes.

This model builds some financial flexibility into the practice from the beginning, while creating a consistent structure that is fair to clients and sustainable for the practice.

Insurance Details

“Why don’t you take insurance?”

There are a few reasons why I do not take insurance that I'd like to share for full transparency:

- Insurance companies require a diagnosis and not everyone meets the criteria for one or wants one on their record.

- Insurance companies can request access to your records at any time and determine if you need therapy without ever seeing you.

- Some insurances have a limit on how many sessions a client can have, despite your wants or needs.

- They control the reimbursement rates of the session and often do not take into account the therapist's experience or trainings.

“What about my Out-of-Network Benefits?”

Although Uncovered Roads Psychotherapy is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly, you may choose to use your out-of-network benefits.

If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy, I can provide a superbill upon request for you to submit to your insurance company.

Because insurance plans vary, reimbursement is not guaranteed. You are responsible for confirming your benefits and communicating directly with your insurer. I will give you questions to ask your insurance company.

Your insurance reimbursement does not change the fee you are responsible for paying to Uncovered Roads Psychotherapy.

“What is a Good Faith Estimate?”

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

I will give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing before your appointment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit
www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
